Plaza Middle School has a new coaching staff.
Today it was finalized that “Doc” James Laumann will take over as the head coach and Jordan Smith will assist him.
Coach Laumann has been the Head Coach for Green Run Wrestling team for 4 years and grew up in the area attending Kempsville High School.
He was a championship wrestler at Kempsville and went on to wrestle for Norfolk State University. Doc Laumann will continue to be Green Run Head Varsity
coach. Coach Smith, a recent 2002 Graduate of Green Run HS will assist Coach Lauman in helping Plaza step up their wrestling program. Coach Smith was a
4-year wrestler at Green Run and was a state qualifier by defeating Great Bridge’s 152lber his senior year. This will be a great shot in the arm for Plaza, the
Green Run Wrestling team and Club is excited about this new development. We have always wanted to see them improve thier program, stated a Plaza Alumni..
This a can be a great feeder team to both Green Run and Princess Anne high schools which will boost both teams.
